When it comes to creating balance in your faith, fitness, and finances, how often do you catch yourself thinking:
- “I HAVE to fit in a workout.”
- “I HAVE to plan my meals.”
- “I HAVE to find time for self-care.”
When I first started focusing on my health and personal growth, I always said things like that.
On one hand, I was motivated to feel more confident in my decisions…
…but I saw the work as a chore.
Why This Happens
Our brains are wired to seek comfort and routine.
Whenever we introduce new habits or step outside our comfort zone, our minds see it as a disruption—and naturally, they resist.
That’s when the “I HAVE to” thoughts creep in.
The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything
What if, instead of saying, “I HAVE to,” you said, “I GET to”?
When I started framing it that way, everything shifted. I began to see these habits as privileges, not obligations:
- “I GET to work out” reminded me of what my body is capable of
- “I GET to meal prep” became an opportunity to set myself up for success
- “I GET to focus on mindfulness” felt like an investment in my future self
This simple shift doesn’t just feel more empowering—it makes it easier to stick with your routines, especially during busy times.
Your Turn: Reflect and Reframe
Here’s how to put this into practice:
Ask yourself:
1️⃣ What habits do you GET to practice this week?
2️⃣ How are they making your life better?
3️⃣ How do they make you feel about yourself?
By focusing on what you GET to do, you’ll find yourself looking forward to these moments instead of resisting them.
Email and let me know—what’s working for you this week. I’d love to hear about your wins and reflections!
