I had a conversation with a friend the other day, and I realized that I needed to open up and share something personal.
I enjoy sharing my story with others in order to share what has worked for me and offer new perspectives to others. I turned 40 in 2020 and after the busiest year of my life I found myself in a health plateau. The dreaded pandemic year that brought more isolation and depression to our society than ever before. Every movement I made included some joint pain and the constant bloat and gastro issues couldn’t be ignored. Even though I was providing my body nutrients with my meal-replacement shakes & bars, it seemed that intermittent fasting wasn’t right for my body type after 3 years.
I still didn’t prioritize food as nutrition my body required mentally. I have always been one to get lost in my work…..I know many can’t imagine how for an Accountant, so trust me, you work within your passion and the hours can fly by! Plus, I usually wouldn’t pick veggies over a quick shake.
In fact, I really looked deep at the WHY of my choices. I quickly knew I needed a mindset change along with nutrition change. My prayers were answered when I was connected with a nutrition coach. We talked about what I was doing and how the high carbs and sugars I consumed was contributing to the bloat and joint inflammation.
After 5 months of being on the program I lost the bloat, most of my joint inflammation has gone away and my mind is more open and alert. I can feel the changes in my ulcer activity and gastro problems and am happy that medication free days have already begun. I have my favorite bars and shakes.
