For many, discovering your passion is about finding your life’s purpose. As you get into adulthood, this can feel troubling and overwhelming if you have not figured it out yet. However, there are many ways to discover your passion as an adult.
Ask Those Around You for Inspiration
Ask your friends, colleague, and family what they believe is your passion. It is surprising how much your friends and family know about you that you might have ignored if you did not ask. Remember that you do know yourself more than they do, but their insight can be telling.
Join Local Clubs or Attend Events
Book clubs, art clubs, basketball games, volunteer, or real estate events are a few examples – if you are interested in it, find something and attend. Do a local search at community colleges, libraries, or on Google to find more in your area. Getting involved more can unlock more ideas and interests you may never have discovered or even knew about.
Analyze and Evaluate Yourself
Take time each week to analyze and evaluate your skills or interests. Invest in a personal journal and ask yourself as many questions as possible to get to know yourself more. What distracts you from eating or doing necessary daily chores? How do you feel after you do a particular activity? Do you feel angry or happy?
Make the Journey Fun
In other words, do not over analyze it. Sometimes when you want something so much, you can lose sight of who you truly are and make the journey to discovering it overwhelming. Instead of telling yourself that you will never find your passion, make it as fun as possible.
This way, you do not already have your guard up when trying new things. It is a common misunderstanding that a light or magical ability starts to flow over you when you discover your passion. This is not always the case. Many people’s passions are developed and perfected over time. Also, what you are passionate about today might change tomorrow based on your experiences.
Explore A New Activity Each Week
Find different activities to try each week. Attending a local art class, computer glass, or simply look up YouTube videos to learn more. However, make sure you try it. Get the resources needed to give it an honest go. Even if you fail at first or it seems too hard in the beginning –keep trying.
Image A World of No Limitations or Worries
Eliminate your worries or lack of skills. Many avoid or dismiss their passion without realizing it due to the world they live in. If money, a job, or taking care of people was not an issue, what would you be doing? Imagine this world to its right and full potential. Keep trying and discover new things. One day you will find your passion. Remember, make it fun, do not stress, and be happy.
